- I used Glitter Cardstock in pink and red, you can use any type or pattern.
- Tacky Glue
- Cricut Explore, Maker or Joy Xtra, Silhouette or other Cutting Machine
- SVG File
The SVG for this craft is part of our Paper Crafters Club, or you can purchase it as part of our Valentine’s Card Bundle
Step One: Cut the Heart Pop-Up Card
When you bring the design into Design Space it is ready to cut. You can click the make it button. If you want to change the colors of the pop up hearts or the insert behind the I <3 U, select that layer in the layers menu and change the color on the top menu.
After it’s cut start with the insert piece that has the extra cuts and perforations. Fold the insert in half and then slide your finger through one of the slits on the side and pop the middle section out and fold in the opposite direction.
Step Two: Assemble Your Heart Pop Up Card
Next, line up the heart outlines with the heart cutout. Flip the outline over and glue all around the edges and a few places in the middle. Place the outlines over the hearts, use a weeding tool or pen to help slide the outlines into place. Allow the glue to dry.
Next fold the outter part of the card in half and add glue all around the I <3 U on the inside. Glue the insert in place.
Now we’re going to glue the pop-up insert in place. Place glue on the inside of the card. Fold the insert in half with the pop-up part folded in. Glue one side of the insert down lining up the edges and creases. Then close the card to glue the other side down.
Open the card back up to make sure the pop-up part didn’t get glue on it. Leave the card open to dry.
Next add glue to the bottom row of hearts on the back side. Center the hearts over the pop-out and glue in place, You can close the card press and set the glue, but pop it back open to allow it to dry.
This card will fit in the 5×7 heart envelope with a heart closure found that is part of the Valentines Day Card Bundle.
That’s all there is to it! Now you have a fantastic handmade heart pop-up card to give to all the ones you love. Don’t forget to grab the SVG Cut file.
