DIY Lip Scrub Benefits
Coconut Oil is a star ingredient in this lip scrub. It’s known for its super moisturizing benefits. According to healthline.com coconut oil also acts as a protectant and it has pain relieving benefits too.
Surprisingly sugar also helps moisturize your skin And of course, it acts as the gentle exfoliant. It removes the damaged top layer of skin leaving the fresh younger looking skin underneath.
Vitamin E oil is another powerful moisturizer that works great for hydrating skin. Plus it has protective properties that will help keep your lips soft and smooth.
You can see these ingredients pack a powerful punch for restoring your lips, keeping them hydrated and protected.
And the pumpkin spice? That’s just Fall bottled up in a jar. Did I mention it smells divine?
Pumpkin Spice Lip Scrub Recipe
If it is cooler where you are your coconut oil is probably pretty hard. You can pop it in the microwave for a few seconds to soften it up and make it easier to work with.
Add to your mixing bowl:
- 1/2 Cup of Sugar
- 3 TBS of Coconut Oil
- 1/4 tsp Vitamin E Oil
- 2 tsp Pumpkin Pie Spice
- *Optional Orange Food Coloring (or 4 drops of yellow 1 drop of red)
Mix all of the ingredients until they are well combined. The oil should be soft enough that everything mixes smoothly.
If your scrub is a little on the dry side, add one more tsp of coconut oil.
After everything is mixed add the pumpkin spice lip scrub to your airtight containers. This mixture should stay good for about three months.
Using the Pumpkin Spice Lip Scrub
You can use the scrub as soon as it’s done. My lips feel so soft.
Scoop a small amount onto your finger and gently rub it into your lips in a circular motion. You can also rub your lips together to get it good and worked in.
Allow the mixture to set for a few moments before removing it with a damp washcloth. Finish up with an all natural lip balm.
If you’re up for a full face exfoliation, this sugar scrub will work nicely for that too. I even used some on my rough elbows and it worked great. Ohhh I think I’m going to do my hands next. Pumpkin spice makes everything nice.
Now off to drink some pumpkin spice coffee.
